LAMBPLAN EBV's
When considering Lambplan figures for terminal sires there are three main traits to concentrate on:
Post weaning weight (Pwwt) describes the animal's merit growth rate. The more positive the  EBV the more genetically faster growing the animal's progeny will be. That is they reach market weight at an earlier age

Post weaning fat (Pfat) describes the value of each animal's genes for fat depth at constant weight - a negative EBV means that the animal's progeny will be genetically leaner animal

Post weaning eye muscle depth (Pemd)describes the value of each animal's genes for eye muscle depth at constant weight - a positive EBV means a genetically thicker-muscled animal, and one that will have slightly more of its lean tissue in higher priced cuts.

For most commercial producers BETTER GROWTH is vital. Rams must have +ve EBVs for weight.

The importance of fat and muscle EBVs depends on how the lambs will be sold and at what weight
ie: for Trade Lambs sold in sale yards fat and muscle are not so important. For heavier lambs sold via Value based Marketing (contracts, grids viascan) fat and muscle are very important.
